Anne Elizabeth Moore, Beloit’s 29th Mackey Professor
Moore taught the Mackey Workshop, an advanced course in creative writing, and held a public reading on March 1 in Moore Lounge, where she read two essays from her 2017 acclaimed nonfiction collection, Body Horror.
She has also written a work of comic journalism, Threadbare, as well as Cambodian Grrrl: Self-Publising in Phnom Penh in 2011. She began her career in independent publishing, editing magazines including the award-winning Punk Planet. She also served briefly as editor in chief of The Chicago Reader, an independent, alternative weekly newspaper.
Next year, the Lois and Willard Mackey Chair in Creative Writing will mark its 30th year, with Chinese American poet Marilyn Chin serving as Beloit’s Mackey Professor.
